Students of Addis Ababa University have contributed over 560 thousand birr to support displaced people due to the conflict in different parts of the country. That is according to the Addis Ababa students’ union president, Kinenet Molla.
The money was collected by shifting the previous menu at the students’ cafeteria to a less costly one. More than 15 thousand students from around 13 universities under the Addis Ababa University have contributed to this cause.
Addis Ababa university students made the contribution from December 27 to January 8, 2018. According to Kidist Yidnekachew’s report, the money will be handed over to the National Disaster Risk Management Commission next week.
The students’ union president has pledged that students will continue contributing their share whenever they are required as helping people in need is the culture of all Ethiopians.
