Mrs. Julia Dolly Joiner, the Political Affairs Commissioner at the Africa Union
briefed the media on various issues related to the AU and her department. In
here briefing she mentioned the efforts made to popularize the activities of her
department. She pointed out the establishment of the African Parliament, the
African Court of Justice of Human Rights and many others as success stories. In
here briefing, the commissioner also mentioned the issue of Africa Government
architecture. Mrs Julia recalled that the Africa Government architecture
initiative was recognized by the heads of states in 2006. It aims at improving
policy formulation, and creation of harmony among the AU organs, various
institutions, and Member States.The commissioner responded to various questions
raised by journalists. The briefing also touched up on issues of convention of
the protection of Internally Displaced people, the ICC, peace and security as
well as the dispute between the newly independent nation of South Sudan and the
government of Sudan over the oil rich region of Abye. (AFRO FM)
