Universal Rural Road Access Program under Implementation: Authority
The Ethiopian Roads Authority said strengthened effort is well underway to effectively implement the Universal Rural Road Access Program.
Authority Director General, Zaid Wolde-gabriel told ENA recently that the program would enable to construct all-weather roads connecting rural areas each other. About 26 billion Birr was allocated for the implementation of the program. The director General said the program would be carried out throughout the country for five years. The program is believed to enhance micro and small scale businesses across the nation. According to Zaid, only 37 per cent of the total number of kebeles has access to major roads so far, Roads stretching 70,000 kms will be built in the next five years under the program.(ENA)
