Nation endeavoring to meet power demand: EEPCo

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Miheret Debebe said The Ethiopian Electric Power Cooperation (EEPCo) is striving to address the ever increasing power demand in the country

CEO Miheret said  that government is developing the sector base on the ever increasing power demand and the economic growth. He said the electric coverage of the country would reach 75 percent after five years when the nation could generate 8 to 10,000 MW. Upon the completion of the projects the nation would export power to neighboring countries,, Ethiopia could earn 250 million US dollars from the Ethio-Kenya power interconnection. Meheret said the projects would enhance the negotiation capacity of the nation would contribute to back the finance for similar projects. The CEO said various activities being undertaken around the huge power generation dams to prevent from siltation. (ENA)
