Alem Mediation and Peace initiative stresses reconciliation and trust for peace

The initiative organized a day-long conference which discussed issues related to developing the culture of peace in Ethiopia. Conflict occurs everywhere. It can even start from within an individual himself. But, the key point mentioned at the conference was understanding ways to reconcile and live peacefully. And it is through gradual and reconciliation process that peace can finally be attained. Professor Ahemed Zekaria is Chairman of the Alem Mediation and Peace Initiative organization. During the conference, he mentioned Ethiopia as a good example for the tolerance that the people have between their different religions. Participants of the meeting also discussed the relation between leadership and peace. It was said that peace can be attained through good leadership. But leadership has the potential to create chaos rather than peace at times. Professor Badeg Bekele spoke on the importance of accepting the uniqueness of other individuals to attain peace. Professor Badeg is President of International Leadership Institute. He also said conflicts will teach us how to be peaceful.
